Half Time Food 圓緣園; previously Half Time Tea Bar is the first business to open in the new semi covered outdoor foodcourt area in Market Square.<br/ We visited the week it reopened in its new home after relocating 50m from the previous location beside Yuens. I'm not sure how much the menu has changed with the move and the smaller footprint, but there's still a decent range of items available, some cooked to order and the rest ready to eat/serve from a hot bar.<br/ <br/ <br/ We ordered clockwise from left of pic 1 :<br/ sticky rice with mushroom and pork 香菇肉棕 , $3.60<br/ century egg porridge 皮蛋廋肉粥 , $6.50<br/ chicken sticky rice in lotus leaves 糯米鸡 , $5<br/ fried noodle 炒面 , $6.90<br/ <br/ <br/ I wouldn't particularly recommend the sticky rice dumpling it's on the cheap side compared to some other ones I've had recently but flavour wise wasn't a match. Probably didn't help that it wasn't served hot, which I prefer and would reheat if I was eating at home.<br/ <br/ <br/ The porridge was warming and the rest of the dishes made for a decent brunch for 2+1 at $22. I'll be back for sure but will miss being able to sit down in an enclosed indoor space to enjoy my food.
Agreed with Joe’s comment on the influence of rumour about CV in Sunnybank area that makes a huge impact on the local business; particularly the restaurants. His recent visit at this renowned eatery reminds me the episode that I introduced my visitors from HK to have a brekkie here end of last year. It was a very impressive experience for them because Thai place really serves traditional Taiwanese brekkie. As from their comments, no matter the fried stick, soy milk, congee, bun or fine noodles and thick soup, they are very traditional and similar to what they had while they were traveling in Taiwan.Thank you for this local gem. We visit Market Square for a light lunch this week. Fear over the CV have kept shoppers and diners away. Plenty of carpark spaces and restaurants/cafes were either empty or 20% full. <br/ <br/ On arrival we see two diners at this once popular restaurant. We place our order of Wonton Soup, Shallot Egg Pancake and Fried Dumplings. Service here has always been minimal, mostly self serve but enjoy our simple meal.
Lovely traditional Taiwanese breakfast. Quick service but can be abrupt at times depends on who you get. For the food, I’d put up with the terrible service.
