The food is both overpriced and poorly cooked. They need to improve their customer service and cooking skills. I suggest avoiding this place at all costs.
As a local, we used to get takeout from Jumbos fairly often, but it has been a while since our last visit. Unfortunately, since the ownership has changed, the quality of their food has significantly declined. The fish cocktails are pricey and minuscule, the potato scallops are paper-thin, small, and lacking in flavor, and the chips are overcooked and limp. We will not be coming back... Zero stars!
There is always a long wait, the prices are high, and the young workers seem to be hanging out in the back instead of attending to customers. They are also inattentive to incoming traffic. We would rather go to the beach for better quality, lower prices, and faster service. It is disappointing because we prefer to support small businesses when we can, but this has been our experience every time we visit.
I have been before, and it is never quick. Food was OK. I went on a quiet weeknight and ordered at the counter, the young girl was helpful enough. I sat outside in their seating area for over 25 mins before I went to check on my dinner. I received a blank look in reply. My docket was pulled off the docket rail and no one had any idea about it. I was literally the only customer there... There were 5 staff in the kitchen doing not-a-whole-lot. I will not be back.
The good wife and I have been struggling to find a decent fish and chip shop in the Warner, Eatons Hill and Albany Creek area. We used to frequent a couple but the quality was always hit and miss, more often than not it was a miss. Anyway we decided to check out the recently improved Warner market place having not been there for some time. Fish and chips being the food of choice for a Friday evening. Jumbos really hit the mark. The selection of fish is good, I've had grilled snapper previously, it was great! I tried the battered hoki on this occasion, great choice too! The chips are fantastic as were the small dim sims and the salt and pepper squid. I know that some of these items are frozen but the way they cook it sets it apart. A bonus is not having to wait ages for orders even with a crowd! Definitely good value, consider us regulars now!
