Thai Cafe - Bradenton

We used to adore this restaurant before it was sold. For over 23 years, we followed the previous owner and her team from location to location, dining here for lunch or dinner two to three times a week. It was our favorite local spot. As a business owner myself, I completely understand her decision to sell and wish her nothing but the best. Since the change in ownership, we’ve visited three times, hoping that the new owners would settle in and the establishment would improve. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. The food quality has declined, the menu has changed significantly, prices have risen, and the service is only average. I truly wish the new owners success, but we won't be coming back.

We have enjoyed many delicious dinners here in the past, but we were very disappointed with the takeout order we received yesterday. I'm not sure if the ownership has changed, but the food was nothing like what we remembered. I ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice, which I had before, and it was completely unrecognizable. It was just plain rice with canned pineapple chunks, onion, red pepper flakes, and egg—missing the curry, raisins, bell pepper, cashews, and green onions that usually make it special. My husband ordered the Pad Basil and said it tasted overwhelmingly of something akin to fennel instead of Thai basil; it also lacked the bamboo shoots and squash we expected. The website and Facebook page haven't been updated in years, so I can't tell if there has been a recent change in ownership, but I can't imagine the previous owners would have served food like this.
