Recently, we have observed an increase in prices (which is expected in any business), but what truly disappointed us was the new menu. Everything seems to be deep-fried and breaded, with the healthier options we used to enjoy no longer available. There are only two basic salad choices on the menu, both of which sound unappealing. In today's society, many people follow gluten-free or low-carb diets, yet there are limited options for them at Jake's. I even inquired about ordering unbreaded wings and was told I should have called ahead to arrange it. Our group has voiced our concerns to the servers and new owners, expressing the lack of variety and healthy choices on the menu. The response was to order the breaded Chicken Sandwich as a healthier option, which is not gluten-free, low-carb, or particularly healthy. In summary, Jake's Boathouse is a great place for drinks, conversation, and entertainment, but unfortunately, we cannot recommend the food.
This restaurant was difficult to locate and the service was incredibly slow. Despite being one of only two tables in the restaurant when we arrived, we will not be returning anytime soon.
I waited for several minutes before someone finally acknowledged my presence. The restaurant was not busy, in fact, it was half empty. The furniture and overall decor could use some attention. The table covers, which were made of vinyl, were falling apart. The service, once I was seated, was good. The lady serving me was very attentive and always had a smile on her face. I overheard her speaking to other customers and she seemed very friendly and sweet. The food was decent, but I was disappointed by the limited menu options, particularly for fish and chicken. I didn't expect much in terms of steak options and there was only one steak entree on the menu. The prices were reasonable, so I ended up opting for the fish and chips since there were no other fish options besides salmon. The fish was tasty, but the onion rings resembled the ones you find in the frozen section of a supermarket.
Our group of friends visit Jake's Boathouse often, it was a popular meeting place to celebrate many occasions or just a casual night with friends. Later we found that prices have risen (not a big surprise, as this happens all where in any kind of business). But what was really disappointing was the new menu, everything seems to be deep fried and baked. The beautiful foods on the menu that were healthier that I had ordered were all removed. There is only the possibility of 2 basic salads on the menu, which unfortunately sound very inconspicuous. In today's society there are many people who need to be free gluten and many people eat low carb foods. There's really nothing these people order at Jake. I even asked if I ordered the Wings unbreaded and that was a big problem.... I was told that I had called the day before I arranged it!!!! Lol. I was shocked and told them I didn't want wings the day before! Our entire group has complained to the servers (which are beautiful by the way) and the new owners that there is not enough variety and healthy choices on the menu. My answer was direct that I was the chicken sand, which is a healthy option, bread and bread....not sure how this is gluten free, low coal or healthy??? So in a nutshell, a great place to join together for drinks, chat and laughter, maybe dance to sk.e great live entertainment, but unfortunately I can't recommend the food.
A little hard to find and the service was very slow... we were only 1 out of 2 tables on our arrival. NOT hurry back quickly
