We caught it with onions, it was excellent, obviously fresh fish! The setting is pleasant with view on the estuary or the port, with outdoor terrace for beautiful days. in the estuary one can have the spectacle of the isolated horses on the islands by the tide; idem for sheep that can be called "pre-sold" (French will understand). the rest of the village is picturesque with its old houses, its old cemetery, a beautiful discovery in this rather isolated place of the peninsula, to be discovered during a journey to or when the pleasure returns, a small town also nice. Evidently good reception, but everyone is friendly in this region!
Pretty cabin room on the water, efficiently serving a modestly ambitious menu, executed to a high standard. Excellent fish, sides and desserts. Super convenient to table lands and MUN Boone Bay research station.
We walked in this afternoon and was greeted by an empty restaurant, and all the doubts started surfacing from past experience, however, we were pleasantly surprised . The food was plentiful and done in a professional manner. What took the cake was the view from the restaurant. If you are blessed with fine weather this one has a killer deck. A small little harbour and which epitomises everything you have heard about this little big island in the middle of the Atlantic. Don't believe me see my photos:). Before ending this I have to give credit to the cook and a cheerful server which added a much-needed warmth on this chilly afternoon. So a big thank you from this weary traveller. (Food portion is substantial, my partner and I were not able to wipe out the plate despite being really hungry)
It was recommended by people we met In Placentia. you have to try the Moose stew. It had the consistency of a cream soup ... filled with potatoes and a few carrots and 2-3 small pieces of meat.It was cold and we needed to ask to be reheated. The bread served was stale and dry. $10 a bowl.
Not only The Loft was open before 11am, but the hostess was very welcoming and fed us a delicious breakfast! This place has gorgeous views from bith sides of the dining room. The set-up looks nodern, yet cozy and most importantly the food is delicious.Visit it on your way to see the Northern Gannets.
