The Grain Store - Bray

The food was excellent, and the service was top-notch at Kite. The only aspect I would change is our seating arrangement. Although I requested a warm and quiet table, away from other guests, we ended up sitting at a table next to a family with young children. There were plenty of other tables available, and we could have easily been seated at one that met my preferences.

I had a great experience at the Grain Store. The atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was delightful. Overall, it’s a well-run establishment!

Despite there being plenty of staff on the floor, the service was shockingly poor. It seemed that booking a table in advance was essential, yet we weren't informed of this. Our experience only got worse from there. We faced extremely slow service, with significant delays in taking our orders and receiving our food. When our meals finally arrived after a long wait, I must say the presentation was impressive. However, three out of the five of us found the dishes to be overwhelmingly salty, leaving two of us unable to eat our meals. We also observed that other tables around us were experiencing similar service issues. When we finally received the dessert menus, we opted for just coffee and tea. Once again, it took a long time for our order to arrive. When it did, two of the teas came in dirty cups, which we refused to drink. One flat white was incorrectly served as a cappuccino. The atmosphere was quite unpleasant throughout our visit. At one point, we decided to cut our losses, pay the bill, and leave because we had never encountered such bad service. We felt we had to apologize to our guests for the experience, and I can confidently say we will never return, especially after hearing complaints about the saltiness of the seafood chowder from two of our guests.

A request for a table change my party of four didn’t want to be sat at the kitchen door turned into a row at 930am in an empty cafe. It was laughable actually, but sad, weird and disappointing too. Got the table in the end but wow. The rest of the staff are lovely. The food isn’t bad either but maybe a little hipster for me sometimes you just want porridge, granola or a traditional fry!
