I chose the most expensive meat dish of the card: bifteki. that bifteki is the most expensive at €15.50, I had not experienced yet. ok. the size of the portion was embarrassing. It wasn't even done, was it? dorade was ordered for proud €24.90 which also does not happen that the first dish is served 5 minutes before the second. what is that? that's embarrassing for the guests. should the first rudely eat without the second or wait and be eating cold? and should you also take care of the window. what should these ugly light strips, in which 4 out of 6 are defective. you have to do something, people! supplement: before there were two salads as an appetizer, after which two pay ouzo.
This small comfortable place a few minutes' walk from the art oriented center of Bregenz is a nice evocation of a taverna in some small Greek town: it resembles some we ate in on the island of Hydra. It's very unlike the big fancy Greek restaurant opposite the museum a completely different feel. A very small place seating maybe sixteen or twenty people tops plain tables and ladderback chairs, everything blue and white, with a handpainted mural on one wall. The owner/host has a little English, enough to handle orders: most of our interactions with him were in German. We used the German menu, so I'm not sure if there were English language ones, but the host helped us with anything we weren't sure about. Nothing at all fancy about the food, but this isn't fast food: the owner takes the right amount of time and care over it. Last time we were there my husband had the kokkinisto a pork stew in tomato sauce with rice on the side : I had spit grilled lamb skewers. (I'm not a big Greek food fan, though my husband is; mostly I stick to grilled meat when eating Greek, and these were terrific. White and rose retsina to drink, and coffee with Metaxa afterward: a perfect lunch for a warm day, in a comfy welcoming place. And reasonably priced, too. Highly recommended. Will add images of the food later if possible.
This was a lovely change from eating German style food. The choices were good and the dishes large in quantity. We had a greek sausage dish which had a cheese in the middle. It was delicious plus the extras we ordered all yummy.
Super Essen und sehr freundlicher Chef! Komme sicher wieder!
Als Griechenland-Fans schätzen wir diese Taverna sehr. Es ist klein, urig und der Geschmack typisch Griechisch.
