After I lived in Los Angeles and San Francisco and recently moved to Brentwood, I always felt that the restaurant scene here was far behind the rest of the Bay Area. After last night I can say Brentwood has a restaurant of this quality now! We started with a maid pickle plate, consisting of cured cauliflower pickle, pickled cabbage raid, pickled peaches and pea potatoes of various luminous colors. I must add at this point, the cook is personally visiting local farms and the selection of fruits and vegetables! Each pickle was amazing and I couldn't choose a favorite. Next we moved to the shrimp cocktail, extremely fresh seafood perfectly fried in beer wine and herbs. The domestic horseradish and cocktail sauce was amazing, but the shrimps were so good I ate a part of it sans sauce. Next was the avocado toast, I'm not a millennial, but I found that absolutely amazing. Perfect ripe avocado on grilled hearty lobster red with a thin layer of melted creamy cheese. To supplement it from fresh Arugula, was stacked high above. I always felt pepper and avocado go so well together so that the sharpness of the Arugula was a perfect game! The main course was a deliciously grilled skirt steak with Salsa Verde. The salsa verde was similar in the texture to a chimichurri without the acidity and the green onions that we are roasted for a hint of smokiness in this dark rich addition to the steak. It was amazing. I rarely eat dessert, but I was tempted by the fresh peach bread pudding accompanied by maid cinnamon ice (Bi-Rite quality) and a very light whisky sauce. This is a taste reminiscent of Grandma Peach Kicker... times 100! I'm a self-professed peach that grew up in California's former peach capital... this bread pudding is nothing but amazing. Frog Hollow Peaches in July can not be beaten, so come this dessert while it takes. 5 stars for everything.
My husband and I came to dinner and were pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the service was impeccable. We had to wait a bit on our table (the word on the street is IS the best restaurant in the city), but the owner offered us gracious drinks, always checking on us and was very friendly. We were late to get our kids, but it was worth it. I highly recommend
My wife and I had our first visit last night. Great place, fantastic food, high-end bar options. Nice to have another nice dining place in Brentwood. Look at it. Wish them the best!
