We had mussels to start and then the steak and the mini pud with...coffee which was perfect. Everything so tasty and piping hot which is something that doesn't happen often now. The pub is now on my list of favourite places to eat.
Managed to get a table for two on short notice, as restaurant was very busy on a Friday lunchtime. Great service and great food. We loved the Christmasy feel with all the decorations up.. I would recommend the mushrooms on bubble squeak and sirloin...steaks, we had two, each cooked perfectly..a shout out to Caitlin and Elise who did a great job.
Have been coming here for several years but will be looking for alternative venue now I think. Came with family for my daughters birthday. Service was very slow and there didn’t seem to be enough staff, I asked for something gluten and dairy free...and I was handed a huge great binder of allergens to search through. I felt really embarrassed and eventually found just the one dish that I could have. The gammon was dry and ridiculously salty, my husband had pie and mash and it looked like it had been really over cooked and dry. Such a shame how much it has changed. We had booked again for December but have now cancelled.
We chose from the Festive menu. The Pattern starter I had was so smooth and with the relish. Yummy. A large Prawn cocktail was goggled up by my partner who said its the best he has ever had and he usually starts with one at...other places. We both had the delicious roast turkey. It was lovely and so was the roast potatoes and veg. I had trouble eating All of my Choux bun with cream and fruit dessert as it was enormous. My partners Christmas pudding melted in his mouth. he finished it all) Tia Maria coffees went down smoothly at the end. The Boars head was decorated really Christmassy and the staff were nice too. We will go back again and take friends and family
Been wanting to come for ages after always seeing it so busy. For a Monday lunch time which was fairly busy, the service was slow. I felt bad for the staff who were there as clearly they needed another person on. We were on a...table right in the corner so we may have been forgotten as people coming in after had their order taken before us and food arrived before us which was quite annoying. hours after we arrived, we still had our main plates sitting on our table having been finished for minutes, But, the food was really delicious and really good value on the lunch menu and a good portion size. I probably would go back again as the food was lovely, but service really needs to be sorted out!
