Birdman Juke Joint - Bridgeport

This is a fun restaurant in the south. Very spacious environment. The menu was the southern consolation of soul food. I ate everything. Beverage selection was also good. Waitstaff we are knowledgeable and alive. I would recommend every meat eater. I had the catfish, chicken wings, bacon crackings and Brussels sprouts.

Ooh, these greens are so damn good. a perfect pairing with the chicken bean sandwich. Make yourself a favor and wash it with a Moon Goddess cocktail... mmm mmm. Well done, boss Scott! Birdman is a very welcome addition to the revitalized Black Rock Restaurant scene!

Excellent roasted chicken. Pickles are hot. Get the only dessert they serve -banana pudding to cool your palate

It is ironic that only 2 doors from Birdman, is another bbq roasted chicken coop with a cool gastropub vibe and offers the same and even more possibilities for the true BBQ fan. Two small companies are now fighting for the same customer. I'm going to both. The chicken is good the Coleslaw good the black eyes peas good the sweet tea good. The Hornbrot is great. I would recommend a spoon with a hole in it to serve the beans and Slav and not a pan both were a little to close the soup, but the taste was good. The tea should be served in a pint glass and not an 8oz small mouth cup. The chicken has a little spice in the mix that it well supplements. I love dear dear fried chicken and will go back. I can only hope that the items that I read at dinner are true, peach scraper would have a great option. I hope they work harder to separate from their neighbor's restaurant. This place is a very cool room and with a few tweaks will be great. I wish them well.

The cornbread was the show stopper of the night, light, crispy and the taste had some depth to it aided by the honey-maple syrup and butter. The chicken was exceptional, including their Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Everything else was good as well but those two items really took it away. The ribs served were just okay, honestly a little tough and lacking some flavor compared the rest of everything we ordered. Maybe it was an off day, but happy to try them again.
