Brennans - Bridgeport

This is a solid pub for hanging out or enjoying some quiet time—it's up to you. However, the beer selection is quite basic and lacking in creativity. I really wish they would raise the bar by offering some more unique beer options. The food is standard bar fare, but it's fresh, quick, and has a fairly extensive menu. What I absolutely love, though, is the stone wood-burning fireplace! Both the staff and patrons add to the fire, which creates a unique and welcoming atmosphere that makes me want to return. I also appreciate the hardwood flooring, exposed beams, and rustic wooden furniture, not to mention the long bar. The crowd is very diverse, ranging from local Fairfield University students to blue-collar workers and sports fans. It's a great spot for watching sports, with at least three flat-screen TVs. Service is decent, and there's good parking available across the street.

The menu had looked really good when we checked it out before arrival so we had high hopes. But when we arrived we were disappointed to find out it's very small with only a few tables and it's more of a bar than a restaurant. We came for lunch on a Saturday around 1:30pm and were told that the kitchen doesn't open until 4pm. I didn't find this anywhere on the website so we were annoyed that we had gone out of our way to try this place. Unfortunately we probably won't be returning to find out how the food is.

Best Reuben sandwich in the area. The corned beef is tasty and not too salty. Combining with the toasted bread and cheese, it render a delicious sandwich. The deco is rustic but not extreme. Overall, Brennan is a very nice neighborhood bar to hang out or have a quick bite.

The beverage selection is excellent, and they offer complimentary snacks like jalapeño poppers and chicken during happy hour. Trivia night is a blast! The bartender is really friendly, and there are plenty of comfortable seating options. It's a perfect spot for after-work drinks.

Great place for pub food and beer! Staff is attentive and friendly.
