I live a bit far outside and away from any international food business, so this is a massive positive one for me! They also have a good choice of vegan cooled and frozen items.
Write that because other reviews are very old. I have been in brighton for a year and visit taj half-regular, as it is a decent business in the center. it is simple enough to avoid the non-vegan areas (think them deli and frozen items.) are obsessed and sweet are first in the load, and the first floor are the vegan frozen. large part of vegan milk and has other vegan products scattered around the non-damageable insulates. the main reason I go here is that they sell plastic-free (pf) spinat and bonsoy milk pure tetra pak, no plastic cap. I usually collect other hard to find PF elements here like mandarin segments, tofu, juices. they also make various mushrooms (shiitake, oyster) that are difficult to find, white sweet potato and papaya!
This is a great shop and has just been expanded. has so many vegan products and is reasonably expensive. you will not go out without buying anything!
I love this one. as Brighton residents I visit at least once a week if not more often. her counterpart to curries and Indian snacks is incredible! taste the broken aubergine. fruit and vegetables, deep cooler and cooler with vegan food, soyyogurt and milk, glasses of gherkins, roasted paprika etc. snackbars, nuts, crunchy vegan heavens! avoid the olives, although dozens of flying from the great self-service pans have seen coming!
As other reviews have pointed out, Taj is basically a supermarket with a good range of ethnic and vegan products BUT also a meat counter. Useful to have somewhere in central Brighton to buy spices, etc that can be hard to find elsewhere. The range of fruit and veg was good but we weren't bowled over with the quality of what we bought. The olives were yummy. Was surprised the take-out curry counter didn't have more to offer veggies.
