Lovely warm sunny day and ordered breakfast to eat alfresco. Our food was delivered to the wrong table and they didn't say it was wrong to the server so it sat there for a while until the server realised his mistake. Then he passed it on to us. The fried egg yolk was broken and cooked solid. I asked for a fresh egg and when it arrived it was just plonked down on the table without any comment or apology for it being not right in the first place. I do like to dip my sausage and bacon in the egg yolk! The food was tasty enough but by that time they had let themselves down so badly on the service. Shame really. Could have been excellent with a little care and attention.
I was on my way to the playground with my two-year-old daughter when we suddenly felt very hungry. The service was quick, and they had a great selection of food including coffee, ice cream, donuts, sandwiches, and chips. My daughter had the children's menu which had four options - burger, sausage, fish, or chicken nuggets, served with chips and a drink. The chicken nuggets were the best we've had in town. I had a bacon sandwich, which was made with fresh bread and perfect bacon. The cafe is located next to a famous bar with live singers.
Although the restaurant is a bit expensive, that seems to be the norm in Brighton. I wonder if it's due to high council rates. Regardless, the toasted tea cake and tea were good. I would give it 5 stars if it was a bit cheaper, but Brighton has become quite expensive. The service was friendly and polite. We had to move due to the loud music from the neighboring bar, which was too noisy for an early lunch. There weren't many people sitting in the restaurant, possibly because of the noise from the bar. It might be a great spot at night.
Visited by chance but worth it. Good value for money, varied menu and great service. Donuts and ice cream lovely.
