I went with my 72-year-old mom and my 13-year-old daughter during our two-day stay at the Queen Hotel, where the No1 Bar and Bistro is located. I had ordered the afternoon tea three days in advance, and when we arrived around 2:10pm on Friday 2/06, the waitress escorted us to our table. The waitress, who didn't speak English very well, brought us prosecco and juice, and then brought out the afternoon tea. I requested a ham and cheese toastie, but she only brought one toastie. The afternoon tea was quite disappointing, especially for the price of £26 per person. We received two mini egg sandwiches, two mini ham sandwiches with mustard, soft cheese with cucumber and cheese with tomatoes. There was no butter, salmon, chicken, or tuna included, except for the ham for vegetarians. I was so disappointed that I asked to speak with the manager. When he came to our table, he simply stated that they don't serve chicken, salmon, or tuna. The sandwiches and afternoon tea looked great online, but the reality was a disaster. The scones were mini and rock hard, and the muffins were dry. The manager did remove the cost of the afternoon tea from the bill, but I do not think it is worth going back there again. Breakfast costs £14.95.
This restaurant is an addition to Queens Hotel and I didn’t think it would be fair to rate the hotel based on this restaurant regardless of it being a part of it. Entrance Very easy to find, right in front of the coast. Very good location for tourists and an easy place to make a lot of money. Food Very mediocre. We had breakfast there and it was not up to par. Cold. Basic. If you’re looking to book the breakfast in addition to staying at the hotel, I strongly recommend you go elsewhere if you’re looking to enjoy it. Drinks Breakfast drinks were horrific. Way too sweet. I had to ask for a separate drink at the bar because of this and a small glass of coke with lemon cost me £3! Decor It looked like a 1997 football club. Very outdated and not the most inviting. Cleanliness Very clean and there was a waitress cleaning on the go which was good. Cost For where it’s located, I get why the pricing would be fairly high but it’s defo overpriced for what it is. I guess the bills need to get paid somehow. Customer service Great. All staff were nice and friendly! Overall Mediocre to say the least. The restaurant was not busy at all and it’s clear as day as to why. Lower your prices, revamp the restaurant and play some music. Bring some life into the place it’s an absolute ghost town. The location is amazing, you could do so much more with it honestly. I would not return to this place, but I am rating it a 2* due to the staff being good! Thank you!
There were numerous mistakes made by the staff at this restaurant. I had to send my steak back because it was overcooked, and the service was very slow. There were major issues when trying to sort out the bill. I would definitely not recommend this place.
The No1 Bistro at the Queen's Hotel serves delicious breakfast for hotel guests and also offers drinks and food in the evening. The staff is friendly and attentive. The dinner options are good, especially the crispy pork belly which we thoroughly enjoyed. Just keep in mind that it is a bistro.
We were staying the Queens Hotel Apartments and breakfast was included as part of our stay in this place. Food was good (buffet style) the service was quick as well. We also stopped for a drink and that was all good as well.
