Now I know why this place doesn't look busy. all are back. a good start to the service. I had a hanker for a good classic burger. heinz ketchup and the classic yellow senf of franzosen. how is north american that? damn good 4oz classic with salat, tomaten, cheese, scab and ketchup. fries were good and crispy, but not overcooked. finger lick burger time. great service. the menu is limited, but this is a burger joint and not a box that sells burger. that's a difference.
In my eyes, Bens has 2 consistent problems. First (ironically) inconsistency. I've had overcooked patties (well done) perfectly cooked patties (medium rare), food come straight out of the kitchen cold, food delivered by UberEATS still warm. Chips undercooked, chips way overcooked. For a brand that presents itself so well, the lack of consistency really lets them down. If they could always present a similar product, I'd be much more inclined to recommend them to fiends. Secondly, without fail, the chips are always WAY over salted. I usually spend half my time sliding my fingers down the chips to clear half the salt. I just had UberEATS and put the chips in a pasta strainer and shook...read more
I have a problem with no alterations policies, but I've learned to live with them. I try the food the way the chef intended and then evaluate it accordingly. Today I ordered a Double Chicken Burger (or at least I thought I did) with no onion and a Classic Burger with no onion. I cut the Chicken Burger in half only to find one chicken and one beef patty. Hmm...what to do? I plucked off the beef patty and proceeded to eat the chicken burger, which was really good (4). I am left wondering whether a...read more
Just moved to Brisbane and read good things about Ben's Burgers who have The Bleachers. Had the cheeseburger, chips and beer. Friendly staff, great decor (sat out the back, chill vibe) and location but the burger was disappointing and really bland. Good chips though.
Gathering onto the craze of American food and burgers from a while back, along with a renaissance to West End's general dining scene not that it needed it, but it had fallen by the wayside for being trendy the Bleacher's takes influence from Fortitude Valley in more than one way (well, it is by the guy behind Ben's Burgers) and adds itself as another worthy addition to the already rich dining scene there. It is a bit hidden, and even after a while there is a side door after a tiny corridor from the sidewalk ... makes sense when you see it, you come to quite a good place overall. It was the 4th of July, and a few days beforehand I felt complied to honour it with finding a new...read more
