Ordered 2 x Hamburgers, a serve of Calamari and a Large Chips and some Tartare sauce. We asked if the Calamari comes with Lemon, and the reply was “I think so”. So we asked if you could find out for sure. All he had to do was turn around and ask the cook to confirm that it does. We got home and find out they had given us one small piece of ‘LIME’, not lemon, for 10 pieces of calamari. The hamburgers were extremely stingy on the toppings, very disappointing, because the beef patty had some good flavour. In all my 43 years I’ve never had a burger with so little salad toppings. The chips were nice though. I don’t like leaving bad reviews, so I called the shop to let them know how disappointing they were. All I got in reply was, “Sorry, we’ll try and do better next time you come in.” Sorry guys there is no next time. No care for the food or the customer.
This is one of the better shops for tasty fish and chips at a very good price. The servings are a good size and the home made tartare sauce tastes great. The calamari are large and cooked to perfection. Friendly service and plenty of parking.
We hunted around for something to eat as we were only staying in the area for a short while and came across this place. Lots of people outside waiting so it must be good. Went inside and ordered fish and chips for the husband but they didn't have mini spring rolls for me, so ordered 2 bigger ones. Waited for a very long time, which we didn't mind too much as it looked as though everything was cooked to order which is good. Husbands fish and chips were really good, however my spring rolls couldn't have been more different. One was very dark and cooked beyond no return and dripping in grease. It was more pastry than filling and very misshapen. The other was golden, a perfect roll shape and not quite so much grease, unfortunately filling was mushy and not at all fresh and crispy vegetables. It was like they had been pureed. My recommendation, fish and chips an absolute must but stay away from the spring rolls.
Have become a regular here for lunch. Great fish and chips, great steak sandwiches and great pies and pastries. Service is always good Prices are good Car parking is also easy as there is onsite off street parking.
