With a very nice izakaya atmosphere, it may not be the best place to go for a romantic date. But if you are looking for something fun, with staffs loudly welcoming every customer and when you are having a birthday party, the staffs will be running from the kitchen with singing and clapping, then Nonbei is the right address for you. ...Read full post on luna-bento.blogspot.com
Came here during a visit to Brisbane and we were very pleased about the choice. The buffet was really good both in choices and quality. We particularly love the big sharing table giving you enough privacy yet a sense of community. Sake choices were decent and we were delighted to try their sake trio. Will definitely revisit when in Brisbane again.
Went with the waygu lovers buffet and let's just say I think we got our money's worth in the 100 minutes we had to order and eat! Food came promptly, meat and sashimi were fresh (waygu was ahhhmazing) and there were a range of choices for side dishes however these were just adequate and mediocre. Despite this, service was average, at times a bit rude. Good value for money if you know how to order right (eg. Ordering 5+ portions of waygu) and a great place to dine in on a cold night.
Went with a group of friends and had the best meal. So much to choose from and all so good. We're still talking about the outstandingly good sashimi salad. The service was brilliant. The vibe was great: it felt like we were in Tokyo! The budget priced cocktails did taste like an over-sweet premix, but hey, they were cheap!!! If cocktails aren't your thing- drink the sake, Japanese beer or tea!
As you enter you can immediately notice a shift from the street to a Japanese styled restaurant. The Japanese staff combined with the decor and branding around are contributors to this. We visited having missed ones we had enjoyed in Tokyo. A negative review below ironically suggested not authentic without having been to one in Japan. I suggest the buffet wagu obviously as it is the highlight dish. If new to the experience you only put the meat on for seconds each side to have the colour change, the second side will be much less to colour and be ready. The only not authentic feeling to it is a positive one- you get a good amount of space. This is certainly not common for Japan. Good food with a great atmosphere, you can get a solid variety with the buffet to eat in little portions at a time as desired. Ordering a small one to test the portions is handy as well as they go by grams for many dishes and visuals Ma. Not translate to some that may over order and incur heavier costs. Will be coming back and bringing people for sure after this visit.
