We started with the pork gyoza, which were delicious pan-fried dumplings. The tonkatsu ramen, a black-based soup with noodles, was beautifully presented. The suppe bark don with egg featured thinly sliced, soy-flavored pork on top of rice, although the bark was a bit tough for my taste. Unfortunately, the grilled eel nigiri sushi was a disappointment, as the eel was thin and chewy instead of the usual thick and tender texture I prefer. Our waitress was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. Overall, a decent dining experience.
Had a fantastic lunch at this hidden gem. Located in a shopping center on Rode Road, this small restaurant stands out with its charming Japanese decor. The staff greeted us with a traditional enthusiastic Japanese welcome. We had the option to dine in or take our meal to go, and the menu offered a wide variety of Japanese specialties. The service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious and served hot. Parking was convenient in the shopping center lot, and it's BYO. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner during the week. A perfect spot for a quick and satisfying meal, we will definitely be returning and highly recommend it.
Having previously visited this restaurant many times, I was aware that the staff was not very friendly (I noticed them quickly looking away), but because it was conveniently close to home, I decided to go for sushi one evening. One of the positives I found was that they prepared the sushi while you waited, allowing me to read a magazine or play with my phone. However, during this visit, I observed the chef preparing my chicken avocado roll near the counter. I watched as they heated the chicken in a pot, accidentally dropping a piece on the floor. Despite picking it up, rinsing it under the tap, and placing it back in the pot, I was served the contaminated roll. Shocked and speechless, I didn't say anything at the time, but now I regret not speaking up. Needless to say, my dog ended up having sushi for dinner that night, and I have not returned since. Avoid dining at this inconsiderate, unfriendly, and unhygienic establishment.
Great lunch at this little gem. Tucked away at the Rode Road Shopping Centre amongst two other restaurants, it's a small little place with tables inside and outside but with a charming Japanese décor. Staff greet you in the usual enthusiastic Japanese shouted welcome. They offer dine in or take away - the day we visited they were busy with both. The menu is sizeable and full of options for all kinds of Japanese specialties. Service was very quick and friendly and the meals were hot and delicious. Parking is easy because of the shopping centre car park and it's BYO. Their sign says they are open 7 days a week from 10am for both lunch and dinner. More of a café than a 'restaurant', its perfect for a quick and easy lunch or early dinner. Will certainly go back again and would be happy to recommend it.
Nice sushi but be sure to carefully check your order.
