Toro Bravo - Brisbane

Came for an early New Years dinner ( we had a 9 month old with us). Octopus for starters was fantastic. The salmon main was great too. I ordered without the jamon (ham) but a mistake was made and it was still in it. They nicely and quickly made a new one. I think there was a slight language barrier with our waitress so occasionally accidents will happen. It did not bother me. The churros dessert was the only part of the meal I didn't enjoy. Chocolate sauce and raspberry (?) sauce was much too rich for me. The crema dessert which someone else ordered was fantastic though. Especially the almond biscuit on the side. Will definitely return.

The chicken in the paella was very tender and the chorizo was really good. The server made an effort to check on us if we needed anything from time to time. Would recommend :)

Me and my friends went there because one of our friends recommended the place for the food and service, but we were all very disappointed this time (was my second time there as well). They have a 2x1 offer on certain dishes on Tuesdays and we asked the waiter which ones were included before ordering, but at the end they gave us one bill and told us they couldn't apply the promo to all the dishes because it was one bill for the entire table and they could split it anymore to apply the promo for the rest of the order because of the system. We spoke to the manager and after explaining that the waiter never mentioned a thing about the bill and that we were clear when ordering we were looking for the dishes in the 2x1 offer he said it was our fault and we had to pay. He ended up giving us a free sangria jug, but his attitude was pretty rude and definitely is not nice to say to a client it's their fault when it's not. Took the team to lunch here recently without checking any reviews online (it was based solely on one of the team having drinks here several weeks ago and suggesting it looked okay). Short version of the review ..... wow! ..... the food is fantastic, great drinks selection and service was spot-on (not overly intrusive but friendly and genuine) all of which made for a really enjoyable couple of hours. Definitely worth a visit.

"Bravo! Toro Bravo" Amazing deal on Tuesdays evenings! Contrary to popular belief that two for one deals and specials are never that great; Toro Bravo served up some good mains. The pork belly was super crispy on the outside and meltingly tender. The salmon had crispy skin and a beautiful looking pink centre. The accompaniment/sauce was fantastic. Everything on the plate made sense. Only feedback I have is that the parsnip purée needs to be smoother (steamed longer/double sieved/ or even use a powerful blender while it's hot to prevent it from becoming so grainy. Also it lacked a bit of seasoning (for the sides) It's definitely worth the $. Where can you get decent mains that are cooked well and pay only for one now a days? Bravo Toro!
