Initially, I was not impressed with the taste combinations as I prefer the burritos from Guzman y Gomez. However, what made me return was the customizable options available - I could order any combination of ingredients in any form I wanted. As I am avoiding carbs, I ordered three large lettuce wraps with cheese and salad, and they only charged $3 for each type of meat and $0.50 for each serving of cheese. My colleagues enjoy the "lighter" Mexican options and rave about the black rice.
During the weekend, this restaurant is calm and efficient, making it a great choice if you're near the Mater hospital. I have always enjoyed fresh and delicious meals at other Zambreros locations, and this one is no different. The staff is friendly and the surprise bonus is that they have a liquor license.
I can't find any faults with this restaurant. The food is always fresh and delicious with generous portion sizes. The staff is friendly and the decor is nice, with funky tunes playing in the background. It's like an oasis in a food desert. Overall, it's very good and consistently so!
I have been to Zambrero 3 times since it has open in South Brisbane, and my overall experience each time has been bad. The service during busy times is abysmal, the quality of the meat is below par and the prices, especially for the taco dish, are far to expensive for the quality of the food. Paying $13.90 for a serve of taco's is insane. The flavour combination of the taco chips, meat and salsas are bland and leave an empty feeling on teh taste buds. Avoid this place, overpriced, poor qualtiy ingredients and sub-par service.
Yummy food for sure but be warned about them asking if you would like this or that it more times than not costs extra and they often dont tell you until they have already added it to your meal and by the time you get to the register you get a rude shock .
