We sat in the main room, close to the kitchen, and were able to watch the meals being painstakingly prepared. We chose the 'classic ' menu at 35€ (for three courses) and each one was excellent original, sophisticated, well prepared, delicately flavoured and beautifully presented. Vegetables were lacking, as always in restaurants of this type, but we always felt that we had eaten enough at each course. Service was attentive, even if the young trainee needed the occasional support of his more experienced colleague. The room was comfortable and warm (not always a given on a cool day early in the year), and the decor simple. When we visited the restaurant was full, another good sign that they are doing things right.
We stayed at Le Jardin aux Sources for 4 nights and very much enjoyed it. We picked this hotel because its location made it convenient for exploring the region (St-Guilhem-le-désert, Cirque de Mourèze, Cirque de Navacelles, etc. AND because it features a restaurant that serves good and innovative food. We were very happy with our choice. Warm welcome from the hotel owner, friendly service in the restaurant. The 3 dinners we had there were excellent. Those dinners include the tasting menu the first night, a menu à la carte the second, and a special menu prepared for us by the chef on the third night. Everything was excellent. I really wish we could more hotels of this type in the central parts of the US...
Fantastic french food of exceptional quality. A real art for creating refined tastes. I tried the beef with two different cookings wasn't convinced about the idea in the beginning, but the result was far better than expected, especially the smoked beef. The advised wine was also a pure gem. A treasure for food lovers, in an otherwise not so interesting village. Not cheap, but quality has a price.
The starter a trilogy of lobster and crab, was really wonderful. sadly enough it was only downhill from there. i can not understand this trend for 'smoked ' meat. it gives the meat a foul taste and since there were other guests that night that also complained about the 'smoked ' meat, I know I 'm not the only one who thinks this.
This was a great find with excellent service, food and wine. The garden setting was superb with a good choice of menu options We had a great meal. Booking recommended
