The Willy Wicket - Bristol

I went to this restaurant for dinner with two friends. We were seated promptly and ordered our starters. Two of us ordered the baked mushrooms, which consisted of mushrooms in a watery cheese sauce served with cheese on bread and very hard toast. The main courses were disappointing, as the breaded hunter's chicken was dry and overcooked. It didn't come with the BBQ sauce listed on the menu, which we had to ask for. The dish was supposed to have bacon and be smothered with cheese, but there was only one strip of overcooked bacon and some dried up cheese on top. My friend ordered the fish, which was in a sauce that tasted strongly of wine and was not reduced enough. It was also lukewarm. The best parts of the meal were the chips and desserts. We were fortunate to receive a discount with a blue light card and a free pudding voucher that we had received when signing up. However, even with the discount, we ended up spending £70 on food and drinks that were just okay—nothing special. We don't plan on returning in the future.

The restaurant offers excellent food, a charming atmosphere, and a team of welcoming staff members. Simon, in particular, stands out for his attentive and genuinely friendly service. A big thank you to Simon!

We had a wonderful dinner on a Sunday night, with all the meats still available, which was a pleasant surprise. Our server Georgia was excellent, especially with our two dogs, being very welcoming and efficient. We will definitely be returning.

Visited for a drink and food while stopping at nearby travelodge. (don’t stop there) Lovely atmosphere when we arrived, cosy seating. Pizza was good, staff friendly.
