I'm not a massive fan of Chinese food, but love a bit of crispy duck pancake. Anyway, my boyfriend and I decided to grab a takeaway over the festive break, and being that this Chinese is just down the road from our house, we decided to give it a go. Between us we shared some Singapore noodles, prawn crackers, chicken balls and sweet and sour sauce and the crispy duck pancakes. My duck arrives and looked like it had been cooked with a blow torch, the chicken balls had a very odd texture and the sauces for both the pancakes and the chicken balls were overly salted and sugary with very little flavour. Even the prawn crackers were greasy and flavourless. Massive disappointment wouldn't' recommend. I only wish the Clifton Thai had been open that day!
This was the worst Chinese takeaway we have ever had, we were in the midst of stressful 24-hour university exam, the though of a delicious Chinese was all that was keeping us going. the satay option the prawns tasted like chicken and the satay DIDN'T EVEN TASTE OF NUTS! Additionally, the food was too spicy- satay is not meant to be spicy- one of us is a sufferer of gerontological problems this could have had dire consequences. in a time pressured exam environment the 47 trips to the toilet hindered the ability to do well. The only good thing about our delivery was the delivery boy- he should move to Chan's Chow they are a lot better.
To start with the delivery man would not come to my front door, he was just parked at the end of my drive for what seemed like ages, I was standing outside my front door wondering what the hell he was doing. Finally he got out of his van began walking towards me, I met him halfway. He then told me he can't go over speed bumps. Most of the food was lukewarm. I don't have a microwave so couldn't heat it up quickly. Tastewise some of it was OK but too salty, rice was dry, prawn crackers were greasy, didn't taste of anything had hard bits, prawn balls too much batter. The worst was the pineapple fritter, that was disgusting, it wasn't like any fritter I've ever had, it was tiny pieces of pineapple in big batter balls. I thought at first they had given me an extra portion of prawn balls cos that's what they looked like, I may as well have eaten balls of fat. I won't be going here again.
I have been coming to this restaurant with my family since I was a child. However, my recent experiences since the new owners took over have been very disappointing. The owner seems disgusted every time we ask for something and even laughed at me when I inquired about my order. She was very disrespectful and rude. Unfortunately, my family will not be returning to this restaurant.
