However, on this occasion, I decided to try something new and opted for a decent coffee. When I saw the advertisement for the house bacon toasted sandwich outside, I knew I had to upgrade my order to a coffee and toastie. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the combination of bacon and avocado worked together. I had never experienced such a delicious pairing since trying a warm bacon and peanut butter baguette in Edinburgh. I will definitely be trying the mushroom toastie next. The food was excellent and I applaud the chefs for their creativity.
As a vegetarian, I was given a burrito labeled as bean and halloumi, but upon taking a bite, I discovered it contained pork instead of my desired vegetarian filling. I brought it to the counter where the man apologized, ordered me a new one, and asked if I was truly vegetarian. He then jokingly suggested I rinse my mouth out with water, which was not the response I expected. Despite claiming to be vegan and understanding the distressing situation, he did not seem sincere or take it seriously. My new vegetarian burrito was accompanied by a free cake, which I accepted to avoid confrontation. I recommend cutting into burritos before eating if you are vegetarian or vegan. I was quite upset by the experience and do not plan to return to this restaurant.
My boyfriend and I were excited to have our favorite house bacon breakfast and smoothie at this restaurant, so we drove specifically to make it before they stopped serving breakfast at 11:30. We arrived in the queue at 11:26, with a few people ahead of us. Unfortunately, when we reached the front, the server informed us that breakfast was already over. We tried to plead and reason with him, explaining that we had arrived in time, but he was not willing to accommodate us. Despite there being no one behind us, we were denied our breakfast. This experience left a sour taste in our mouths and we were disappointed by the lack of customer service. We had hoped to be welcomed back, but instead, we left feeling disappointed and disheartened.
I drove with my girlfriend into town especially for a house bacon from the breakfast menu. We arrived at 11.26 and was in the queue behind a few people in front of us, the breakfast menu stops serving at 11.30. We waited until our turn and the clock had just gone 11.30. The server then told us that we couldn’t get any food whatsoever and they would only serve coffee. I understand a lay over time before the lunch menu but we got there on time and was sure we would get served food. It was disappointing because we had paid for parking and this really put a spanner in our morning.
Friska's cafes are the best in Bristol the coffee is outstanding, the food is delicious and the people are lovely. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, whether you're working, relaxing or meeting people for lunch. The staff are nice, and the owners take great pride in the business from top to bottom including listening to customer feedback. *Covid 19 addition* we were happy to just take delivery of a meal for two with cookies and wine from Griff a lovely man. We hope to be back in the cafe (at a safe distance, of course) very soon!
