Contribuisci feedbackAfter reading other reviews, I feel like I was in a completely different restaurant in early March 2016. So let's be honest: Balaboosta is overrated. The menu I had was mediocre at best, the ambiance was average, service was okay, and prices were about half higher than for a similar menu in higher quality restaurants in the center of Brno. Specifically, I had lukewarm bean soup in a tiny cup, where chunks of carrots outnumbered about a dozen beans, followed by a few pieces of stewed beef and vegetables, piled on top of overcooked rice. I understand that a kilo of beans is probably two to three times more expensive than a kilo of carrots, and if you don't cook based on a calculator, you won't cook well at all. On the other hand, calling it a carrot soup with a hint of bean flavor could have made everything all right. But it wasn't. Simply put, this wasn't worth the price. It wasn't even worth a tenth of a Michelin star. It wasn't good even by Brno standards. Maybe it would have been okay in Modřice, but let's admit it, Balaboosta is not much more than a countryside pub turned into a restaurant. It's just hype. Maybe they used to cook well there. Maybe it had a reputation. Yes, the place was full, with English being spoken in a couple of corners, a few young guys in tight shirts and hipster glasses wandering around, looking like an art director in an ad or the CEO of a startup who wasn't there yesterday and won't be there the day after tomorrow. But they didn't find what they were looking for. They just kept quiet because, hey, this is Balaboosta, if you get what I mean. The folks from Prigl heaven forbid KKRD would've reviewed it a bit better (KKRD about a chef's pubic hair), but just take it as I wrote it: a slightly average place with slightly above-average prices. Nothing special, but not heavenly either. And of course, that feeling that you had lunch at Balaboosta. That, of course, is priceless. A few positives to end on: the service was fast, despite the yuppie rush, they managed efficiently. The menu was unusually rich, catering to everyone's taste. Some quality hidden gems on the menu. The ambiance is quite nice. Let's be clear: it's not a bad restaurant at all, just slightly below its reputation. And pride comes before a fall. So, half a point deducted from the original 4.
The food is cooked excellently here. They have top menus, original, tasty, and perfectly complemented with a drink or dessert. Just be prepared to wait for them. But if you have a tolerant boss, grab your colleagues by the tie and go there, you will enjoy it. You can easily drive there, unfortunately the location of the restaurant is outside of the normal public transportation reach or a manageable walk. They also cook great outside of lunchtime. There is a garden available. If you overindulge, you can stay overnight in the nearby guesthouse. Also great for weddings and family gatherings.
Playing it safe with the daily menu. Parking can be a problem during lunch, but the menu is always worth it. The restaurant consistently maintains high quality.
Fantastická reštaurácia kde je v jedle cítiť lásku...v každom jednom...kuchári využívajú regionálne a sezónne suroviny...nikdy ma jedlo nesklamalo či už cez obed alebo z večerného menu...jedlá sa často obmieňajú preto vrelo odporúčam :
Pro mě jedna z TOP restaurací na DM, kde si vybere zákonitě každý, obsazenost restaurace v této době, o tom sama vypovídá. Nápad kuchařům určitě neschází, jelikož na to kolik jídel za týden se v menu vystřídá, se nestává, že by se opakovali, interiérem restaurace není žádný luxus, bohužel možná i pro samou restauraci kapacitně také ne, i když by to někdy bylo vhodné. Pro hodně lidí může hrát roli lokalita, ale kdo má pružnou pracovní dobu a na oběd si může zajet, tak restauraci můžu jen doporučit. Jídla ze stálého jídelního lístku, jsou taky super, ale upřímně si myslím, že v takové kvalitě může člověk navštívit mnoho jiných restaurací. V DM je ale Balaboosta bezkonkureční.
