Daikanyama Nyc - Broad Channel

I went for a quick late lunch on a Saturday. It was so good, I went back the next day!!

Right next to Bloomingdales, this restaurant has a very unique layout. It has a long bar area with a few tables and has more tables on the opposite side of the hallway. The sushi was pretty good and fresh. I stuck with the standard rolls. Very good. The freshness comes through in the fish. It is a little pricey but it is Midtown Manhattan. Would come back.

Right by bloomingdales you'll find this japanese katsu and sushi spot. The sushi and apps were on point. Loved the yellowtail and all the sushi was very fresh. The highlight though was definitely the pork katsu. Tender juicy and crispy and goes well with their sauce.Loved the robot that serves the drinks and apps as well. Quite trendy. Will recommend.

Well designed Japanese restaurant inside of the Bloomingdale's building. I believe there was an American burger joint there by some chef before this. I was surprised to find Daikanyama instead. Service was great! They were attentive and quick. I will say.. this is one of those cheap fancy restaurants. In a sense that the food level doesn't match the ambiance. I am always cautious to order raw fish from a place I am not familiar with so I decided on Daikanyama Special Lunch. I knew it had some sashimi but it wouldn't be the main course. It was served with a miso soup and salad to start which were great, and I especially liked the dressing on the salad. And also came with shrimp and vegetable tempura with dipping sauce, rice, teriyaki salmon, pickled veggies and fruit. The sashimi was paper thin and had a strange aftertaste. The teriyaki salmon had a weird flavor too..as if it was recently thawed out around other foods. I was impressed with the tempura, big portion and fried in clean oil. I usually never order it bc of the oil taste but this was great. It made up for the terrible fish plates. For around $30 lunch this was plenty of food. But I don't think I'll come back here again.
