Freemans - Broad Channel

Really great decor and atmosphere! Lobster Benedict was excellent and the **** Mary’s have a great spicyness! Devils on horseback (Dates stuffed with cheese wrapped in bacon) are absolute flavor bombs.

The location is beautiful, and the restaurant is deceptively large. We went for the restaurant week menu, for which they were serving full size appetisers and mains. I went with one other person so was able to try a variety of dishes. Appetisers Artichoke dip with bread: delicious fresh dip, with enough bread for 4 people (a lot). Mussels: very flavourful broth and tasty mussels, though there was a fair bit of grit for me, so had to take care in biting. Mains Chicken: the dish of the evening for us. Packed with flavour and perfectly cooked. Arctic Char: solid dish, would have been nice if the skin was crispy Dessert Chocolate gateau: rich and well.. dark chocolatey (bittersweet). Nice one to share. Grapefruit sorbet: the flavour was faithful to an actual grapefruit, including its tartness. The texture was pretty rubbish it was icy, and fell off in chunks. I'd avoid this. Overall, nice evening.

No notes. Went during a Saturday brunch rush and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly and attentive. Had a couple of fantastic and unique cocktails, and loved Freemans take on both shrimp grits and chicken waffles. I’m always skeptical of ordering those dishes in “the north” but they really did the food justice.

I made a reservation to dine here for restaurant week. I sat at the bar, which was cozy but tight. I appreciated the prompt of service by the bartender and accuracy of making multiple drinks. The dishes were delicious, but the mussels appetizer was first place for me. Here are a few pictures to show why these food options are worth ordering.

Super cute brunch! Love the decor and vibe. The staff was extremely accommodating. There was a problem with our reservations but they accommodated my party anyways. The food was tasty. Appetizers we enjoyed the artichoke dip and caesar salad. Love the caesar salad! So fresh snd the dressing was spot on!! I ordered the egg benedict with smoked salmon for an entree. My party had the burger and shrimp with grits which they enjoyed. Would come back!!
