Entree: Beijing Chicken with Jasmin rice (great flavor for the chicken! The rice did taste slightly like the bottom of the pot type of rice and it was also dry). I got a side dish of broccoli. The broccoli was good, and had some type of garlic sauce on it. However, I do believe it was too much sauce that the broccoli was drenched and became soggy after a while. Amazing flavor though! Beverage: watermelon mojito mock-tail (refreshing!!!!!! Great taste). Dessert: Chocolate lava cake (DRY DRY DRY)! In regards to food, despite minor flaws, it was great and served fresh and hot! That was consistent! The service was poor. Most people looked disappointed in how low quality the service was. Waiters were all over the place and barely came out to serve or replace water. Had to chase down a waiter, whenever possible in order to get your food and or the check. I honestly think that the ratings would be higher if the service was a bit better. Given the circumstances it was a Friday night, so probably a bit busy, however, I noticed that waitresses and servers tend to big parties rather than couples. I would maybe recommend order to go.
Went Here for my birthday recently... My sister did the reservation.and when we got there they didnt act like they knew we had a reservation. She noted it was my birthday, but it didn't seem to matter. The lighting was nice and intimat, but i was a bit concerned about not being able to see my food. They did give a choice of dining inside or out which was nice. We dined in. I had the Purple Rain drink, which was good. I also had the lump crab cake with salad. For the price, it should have included 2, and the crab cake was fried a bit too hard, in my opinion. The salad was good. Then I had the 3 vegetable spring rolls that were good but could have been better priced. My main dish was the Jue Lan special fried rice. This included rice lobster, chicken, shrimp and egg. The dish was good at the time and they did give me a lot. The wait staff was ok but cleaning off the table had me a bit annoyed with all the arms reaching over. The dessert was a 12 layer chocolate cake which was ok. It was small enough to fit in the palm of my hand for $20 and they were funny enough to give us 7 spoons. The cake might as well have been a cupcake. I had taken my remaining Jue lan Fried rice to go. When I got home, I decided to eat my leftovers only to find out that 3 EGG SHELLS were cooked into the rice! I was highly upset, disappointed and discouraged to return to Jue Lan Club. Nice atmosphere, nice staff, however food preparation and pricing could be way better.
This restaurant is a must go to especially during NYC Restaurant Week! Wonderful menu selections, outstanding food and friendly staff. I 've been going here for many years and am never disappointed.
I used to party in Limelight in the early 2000s. To see a restaurant attached threw me off. However, with the renovation of the space, the ambiance, food and drinks, it is a very nice place to go. The restaurant week deal was AWESOME! Shout out to all those who ensured the meal and service was delivered awesome.
Maybe because it was a Wednesday night I'm not sure but it just wasn't the Jue Lan that I used to know and love. It was very empty and the vibe was not that of Jue Lan. I also told them it was my girlfriend's birthday and it wasn't acknowledged at all. Disappointed
