Porcini pasta was rough and heavy. Even though service was good, the experience was disappointing for such a highly rated restaurant.
Food was solid, but nothing one cannot find in other Italian restaurants. Service was disappointingly inattentive. We ordered Caesar Salads that took forever to arrive, and finding someone to simply refill a water glass was maddeningly frustrating. The tables are so close to one another and the space in parts of the restaurant is so cramped that one sits back-to-back (chairs bumping into one another) with someone at the next table and it is difficult to maneuver one 's way to and from one 's table.
The food was excellent but the service was horrific. We ordered soup for appetizer and it took one hour to arrive (no joke). The main course did not come for another 45 minutes (after I asked the waiter twice). When it did come, both myself and my dining partner did not receive the side pasta. When the waiter brought them, it was the wrong type of pasta. It took another 10minutes to get the right type. It is very expensive which is not unusual for a mid-town Italian restaurant, however, to justify the price you need both the food and service to be optimal. The food was the service was not. There are too many other good options to take another chance. It is a shame because I always liked Nanni's and used to come quite often a few years back.
Our friends who formerly lived in NYC sent us here, and we're so glad they did. The staff was old school charming and the food was amazing. Whatever you do, get pasta with the Nanni sauce to try.
Everything was fantastic! This restaurant is a must for anyone who lives life, food and wine!
