Patrona Mexican Cantina - BRONX

This is a fantastic restaurant! It's a genuine Mexican spot that serves authentic Mexican cuisine. The service is excellent, and our meals arrived promptly. The dishes were delicious, and the portion sizes were generous.

I'm from Texas, where we take our Tex-Mex seriously. Now that I live in New York, I'm cautious about trying new places because I know the cooking here often doesn't compare. I recently ordered two servings of steak tacos from a restaurant with great reviews, thinking they would be delicious. Unfortunately, these were possibly the worst tacos I've ever had in NYC! They were loaded with three or four extra toppings, which I thought would enhance the flavor, but I was sorely mistaken. Honestly, you'd be better off eating these tacos while dealing with COVID!

The food was fantastic! They offer a variety of vegan and vegetarian options, all of which were delicious. The owner and the server were very friendly, making the experience even better.

Second time ordering and can confirm that La Patrona isn't bad, and also it's not great. Their carnitas are unconventional and very well-seasoned. No crispy ends, and they use small chunks instead of large, juicy hunks, but there are hints of citrus and maybe cardamom ??? . They're pretty good. 4 stars. Visited on a Saturday night and tried the special chicken with chipotle cream sauce and the hibiscus agua fresca, delicious meal! Will definitely revisit.
