China New Star Open Kitchen - Brooklyn

This is a classic New York Chinese restaurant. Newly renovated decor. White linen tablecloths, good size portions and attentive staff. Lots of waiters eagerly take orders and get your food out quickly, nice and hot. We all went home well fed and with doggie bags.

I'd rate China New Star three and a half stars. We placed an order for takeout over the phone. They got everything right on the order; nothing missing and no mix ups. It was also ready in under 20 minutes which was greatly appreciated. I had the Szechuan wontons, scallion pancakes, and vegetable lo mein. My favorite item was dredging the broccoli for another dish in the leftover sauce for the Szechuan wontons. All together, ordering was a breeze and I felt the experience was very professional.

The food is delicious and good portions. The service is good too.

I was looking for an old school classic Chinese restaurant that takes COVID precautions seriously and keeps patrons separated. All staff were masked and everything was clean. Food was pricey but portions were large and everything we ate was delicious. Staff was wonderful, worth every penny.

I simply cannot understand any negative reviews, this place has been awesome for at least 30 years, and the staff are prompt and kind. I am truly never disappointed and go out of my way to come to China New Star. I have long searched for Chinese food of this quality elsewhere, and besides Flushing, Queens and Chinatown, this is the BEST you can get in Brooklyn.
