In discovering a local gem, most people are hesitant to disclose or review positively. I understand the need to keep it to yourself not open the flood gates and screw yourself out of a table when you want to go. In this case, I challenge the sushi savvy to seek it out. Prove yourselves. Take that 45min R train ride to Bay Ridge. Or the $60 Uber. Be pleasantly surprised. Be rewarded for the trip. Gohan is one of the price:quality omakase experiences in all NYC. Santa Barbara uni. Hokkaido uni. Shaved black truffle. Properly seared A5 wagyu. Aged kinmadae... This isn't smoke and mirrors. This is next level sushi that happens to be in Bay Ridge, BK.
Everything was excellent from the moment you walk in and until you walk out. We are always greeted with warm welcome and the food was perfect. Authentic Omakase Sushi at it's best. Now, we don't have to go in to Manhattan for real authentic sushi. Highly recommend this place and we will definitely go back.
We had the affordable omakase. Highlight pieces were the Dungeness crab, Botan Ebi, and Toro Temaki. The Dungeness crab and Botan Ebi are rare in omakase menus within NYC and metro areas. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to other foodies as the omakase is comparable to other fine dining restaurants found throughout New York. The ambiance of the restaurant is small and quaint. Great place for a date or quality time with friends and family.
The chefs are so friendly and the service was impeccable! The food is exceptional. Definitely will be back.
