Contribuisci feedbackI visited the restaurant yesterday with some friends to catch the Jets vs. Giants game. The atmosphere was fantastic, with plenty of screens to watch the action, and the wings were delicious. The service was excellent—friendly and attentive. I will definitely return!
This is a fantastic sports bar that broadcasts Premier League soccer games, including those in the morning. The drinks and coffee are quite good, but the breakfast food leaves something to be desired.
However, my experience yesterday was the worst I've ever had. I came in on a lovely summer Friday at 3 PM to watch the Man City match. The bar had about 10 to 15 people—manageable and not overwhelming service-wise. Unfortunately, the service I received was strange and left me feeling quite confused. One feature I love about this place is the ability to substitute a standard burger patty with a Beyond Burger patty, since I haven't eaten meat in over 20 years. I ordered the Brooklyn Burger and requested the substitution. I had to explain to the bartender what the Beyond Patty was, even though the menu clearly allows for the swap, but I wasn't too concerned. It was a hot day, I had a cold beer in hand, the match was on, and my burger was on its way—everything seemed perfect. When my burger arrived, it was topped with what looked like bacon. I informed the bartender that my order was incorrect. She insisted I had ordered the McMahon Burger, which I had never heard of. If I had seen a mention of bacon, I would have skipped that option entirely. Even if I had ordered it, any waiter should confirm with a customer who has explicitly requested a vegetarian substitute if they truly want bacon on top of their veggie burger. After seeming bewildered by my request to send it back, she mentioned they could just take the bacon off. I explained that I would prefer if they either cooked a new burger or researed the original, as I didn’t want any trace of bacon flavor in my meal. You would have thought I asked her to prepare a soufflé blindfolded with one hand behind her back! After a back-and-forth exchange, she finally agreed to accommodate my request, and the burger came out correctly prepared. It tasted good, although I couldn't fully enjoy it given her earlier reaction and the discomfort it caused me. After finishing one beer, I switched to water since I was driving. When I asked for my bill, she wanted to run it through quickly (I had my card ready). When she returned with the receipt, she apologized for the burger mishap and claimed she had comped my second beer due to the mix-up. I found this odd since I had only had one beer. Upon checking the receipt, there was no beer comp and I was charged for the McMahon Burger instead. It seemed she must have comped my tap water instead. I didn’t feel like pursuing the matter further, so I let it go and tipped her 20%, albeit reluctantly, as that’s just my nature. I hope this incident was merely an off day for her, and in a few weeks or months, I might drop by again for a better experience. Overall, the entire visit felt strange—from the bacon-topped burger to the nonexistent beer comp, not to mention her frustration over changing a single TV channel to show the first match of the Premier League season in a sports bar that's typically very soccer-friendly, even opening at 7 AM for matches. My previous positive experiences here are the only reason I’m not giving a lower rating than a 3. Vegetarian options: Beyond burger, quesadillas, salads, nachos, fries—standard bar/pub vegetarian fare.
One of the best places in Park Slope where you can enjoy a beer ? cocktail ? wine ?food ? and much more. ? recommended ? ?
Phenomenal pub food, like the real kind. The burger I had was juicy, flavorful, and made me want to try every dish on the menu! Highly recommend!
