Sushi Katsuei - Brooklyn

I went to Katsuei the other night. Pretty nice. The best sushi in Brooklyn they say. ?If the fish was any fresher you will have to catch it with a hook.? I read. Very nice place. Sterile, I could probably operate on these tables?. service was ok. Was itthe best sushi I ever had? At least the best I had in Brooklyn? Unfortunately I?ll have to say no, it wasn?t. It felt likethe owner thought it is though. ???????

Try the Omakase (12pcs) sushi. Ask the servers whats in season. April to June usually is Hotaru ika season (firefly squid). Try the Hijiki salad .

I?ve enjoyed the place a lot in the past as the ?high end sushi place in the neighborhood,? when you wanted to take friends out on an occasion. This time, they were out of a lot of stuff and the service was not on point; waitstaff was friendly but didn?tseem knowledgeable or able to describe things clearly. Hoping it was just an off night.

Really good quality sushi and the omakase menu provides great options. The service was great and hospitable. This is a great sushi spot if you don?t want to travel into the Manhattan and want to stay in Brooklyn. And the price is amazing. You canprobably find cheaper, but the quality won?t be as good. Definitely recommend bringing family and friends here if they enjoysushi at a good price.

Omakase was reasonably priced but more importantly, their fish selection is very good and very fresh. We got many fish from Japan and fish that is not normally served elsewhere. Their Saba, sawara are all house cured and prepared and it is so good. Ican't wait to go back to this place!
