Bar Idda - Brunswick East

Absolutely phenomenal food. The best Italian/Sicilian food I’ve had in Melbourne by a good margin. Great drinks list. Try the lamb shoulder, the pasta w ragu and the caponata. All stellar. The cassata is amazing too. 5 stars.

As we were leaving the restaurant, a waiter asked us if we enjoyed the pasta. We responded with enthusiasm to show that we truly did. I even left a generous tip to show my appreciation. So it was frustrating and confusing to receive an email before we even got home, asking us to take a survey about our dining experience. Why the need for constant validation?

Impressive. It’s nicely fitted out. Everything works, pretty much. Good menu and drinks list. Food quality and presentation good too occasionally approaching excellent. Service bordered on too cool for school but maybe that’s just me. The overall value was good. I’d happily return any time.

We have supported this restaurant since it opened and have never been disappointed in the food. Tonight, however, we were asked to leave at 7.55 with the considerable bill plonked on the table before our sweets were even served! Apparently the 8pm booking was waiting...never...would this happen in Sicily where hospitality is the priority....spoiled our birthday celebration, everyone was embarrassed.

We were shouted a meal at Bar Idda by our children to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful night out. Our kids had all eaten here before and recommended the banquet wow, we weren't disappointed!! We especially loved the barramundi, the...ragout, the chargrilled corn and the lamb rump.An amazing feast in a nice laid back atmosphere.
