The burgers are good, and so are the sides. The desserts are tempting. By the way, although it's an older-style property, it's quite comfortable.
I was most impressed with the service and overall experience with my weekday lunch here. The staff were helpful and my daily special fish and chips lunch was well beyond expectations. I had Blue Grenadier, grilled, with salad and chips and the quality was excellent. I also had a Pirate pale ale, which was as the bar person described, Sour with a taste of passionfruit. It was just the thing for a hot day.
We stayed at the Hotel for 2 nights and enjoyed every bit of our stay. Staff are amazing esp, Bonnie, Emmy Jenny. Thankyou, would recommend without a doubt. Handy location. Live music a bonus.
The meal was fantastic and the prices were reasonable. The wine list and selection of beers on tap were extensive. There was even live music on Sunday afternoon. The restaurant has been renovated nicely with big screens and a very classy atmosphere. It is definitely worth a visit.
We visited on a Saturday around 6:30pm. During our previous visit, the pub was full of families and locals, but this time there was a different crowd and a security person present. The place seemed less busy than before. I was surprised by the early and loud entertainment, as it didn't seem to match the atmosphere. For these reasons, I can only give two stars for these visits, whereas before I would have given four stars or more. The pub should consider the type of services it wants to offer and the crowd it wants to attract. Personally, I will not be returning.
