Karen's Place - Bucerías

Not the greatest experience slow and not the best food. The location seemed ok, but the food was not better than a beach snack and twice the money. Do not drink the water we met several people eating there and drank the regular table water and all got sick we all suspect that it was the water that I ordered bottle water and was good. Wait staff lazy and unfriendly I understand that the owner English as I was I guess she went home and forget the rules for hygiene . Dirty glasses unreine tables . There are much better places to go eat 5 minutes away and you get great service and better food . If you try to complain, you will basically be empty! Save your money and your stomach and spend your money somewhere else.

I’ve been there a few times this visit to the area. The ribs are very good. The Parmesan crusted fish is delicious as are the stuffed mushrooms and the coconut shrimp. That being said, I do think the staff tends to dial it in when Karen isn’t around. Both times when Kim was there. Drinks were very good and had an adequate amount of alcohol in them the time that she wasn’t there it was like there was no alcohol in them. Well, I think it’s very good. It’s much better when she’s there.

Love Karen's. Go there often. Great food and service usually. Stopped by for 2 for 1 drinks 3-5. Got really sub standard tequila in our margarita's. Pretty aweful. Had one an hour earlier that was excellent. This one was really poor quality tequila. It took over a half hour to get a drink and about 1 hour to get an appetizer. Very disappointing that they would run that **** for 2 for 1. At least let people know their drinks will be the garbage under the bar. I will go back. But beware of the 2 for 1 drink specials from 3-5.

I wouldn't come here unless with a group of friends or on a romantic date. Alone or with a travel buddy it might feel a little awkward. This place is not cheap. Drinks close to 200 pesos, meals all 250 peso up to almost 500 pesos. But the cuisine is divine, the food is perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. Service was a little slow the night we visited there were a few larger groups and a two person table as far out on the beach as possible was just not a priority. Plus we were not drinking and split an entre. Go if you are in the mood for a dressy, high end dining experience in Bucerias. Make a reservation or you won't get in at all.

When we arrived at Karen, it was not busy and they had tables inside and on the beach. There were several employees. We sat on the beach, but got no menu because “the server” should bring one. We sat and waited for someone to bring the menu. We asked one of the servers and were told in a minute, still no menu or beverage order after 15 minutes because no one came to the table! After another 15 minutes we had waited enough and heard from another table that had their meals that it took over an hour for them just to get their appetizers! We are on the way, at the point the hostess who sat us came by and said that she would bring us something to dinner, but until then it was too late to wait longer.
