There are steak restaurants in Buenos Aires, and then there are Don Julio’s. Without a doubt the best fillet steak I have eaten, cooked to perfection of these masters in open kitchen. All about the restaurant is magical: staff, service, mood and of course food. We were lucky to meet the owner Pablo Rivero and what a gentleman. There is a reason why Don Julio is the best in Argentina, and absolutely worth waiting in advance or at night. The Chandon crying outside, you wait a very noble note. Thanks to the entire team for two excellent visits to dinner lunch!
Many people wait, reservations were not available for a few weeks, they speak English, no parking, not too touristy. Steak was good. Most nice restaurants charge a tabletop fee, ARP 500-pp to 1400pp) most. Just tap cash. FYI.
If you have not booked months in advance, you will be prepared to wait for long. It's worth it! It is not difficult to stand and people watch when the beautiful staff you with fizzy wine and empanadas plying! The steaks were so much better than expected and we expected the best. I had the biggest "T" bone, which was cooked to perfection, about which my wife had the zartoin she was still saving. The service was great. I loved watching the waiters with rulers to measure the cutlery distance! The desert was Dulce de leche crepés and they were as good as they sound. We also had a very nice red wine (Malbec obviously) to complete the experience. No cheap meal according to all standards, but for one time in a lifetime visit to Buenos Aires I would say it is a must! Remember to book in advance.
We made our reservation far in advance of our arrival. We arrived early and were seated quickly. Other table started filling up later and even later there were people waiting, hoping to get a table. This place was highly recommended and the staff were friendly and attentive. The food, the meat was good, but not as good as the price reflects. We later found other restaurants that were in our opinion offered better meals at better prices. It was nice to sit on the street in the evening and enjoy a good meal, but not worth the prices they charge. Simply put, this restaurant is very nice, but over rated.
