Wherever Bar - Buenos Aires

Wherever is not perfect. I do not think it was ever meant to be. I'm pretty sure the leather seats were worn in 2007 when I last visited and yes they probably worse now. The best thing about wherever is that they - Leo - still recognise you FIVE years later. It might take a bit of work on your part but Wherever is one of those places where you get back WAY more than you put in. It really is a special place.

It is an Irish pub in Palermo. Certainly, this restaurant has known better days. The upholstered chairs already have some great signs of wear and decoration in general does not create a very cozy atmosphere. The quality of food is regular (the last time, the portion of rice was cold) and the prices are average of the neighborhood. The worst, however, is the service, slow and unfriendly. You can find better options in the neighborhood.

It's a nice and original spot. Well decorated and accessible. It's a block from Palermo train and metro station and dozens of buses run nearby. You can reserve a private living with comfortable coaches and armchairs, a simple table for two or for, or (my favorite) sit by the bar. Leandro the barman is great. He really knows his stuff and can recommend you in a fun way each of the drinks and dishes with detail. He catches your mood with ease and he adapts. Yesterday I had after a couple of beers and snacks I tasted an amazing Japanese wisky-like drink: nikka. Really great. And then an extraordinary islay: Bruichladdich 25, another must be. Don't be shy, go to the bar and speak with the crew about what you want to explore. You won't regret it.

Wherever is located outside the tourist corridor of Palermo Hollywood (just a few blocks), so you´re going to meet the regulars and travelers but none teenager screaming or groups taking shots loudly. They have a huge offer of whiskies! Really. The owners (Nicolás and Leo) lived a copuple of years in Ireland and know a hell lot about whiskies and they are always in the mood to teach and explain about it. All the bartenders are pro and make exquisites cocktails. The music (almost all British. Ex: Morrisey) sounds perfect. Excelent quality/price. You have three livings with beatifull Charleston coaches and lovely wooden tables made with the old Singer platforms. The food is very tasty and there are plenty of options. Go and enjoy!

I never give 5 out of 5. Even if everything is perfect I just never do. But I will now as I just can't find anything to critic about this place.We went last night and had drinks and some light snacks so that is what I am rating on.The drinks were very reasonably priced and excellent choices of whisky cocktails.The food was great re interpretation s of classics. The bruschetta with blue cheese and the aubergine toasts were especially nice.The staff were amazing - very friendly and happy to talk.Music very cool rock from us and uk.Would love to return again.
