Great atmosphere, good eating, delicious **** marys and very friendly staff. loves the dog who welcomes us!
We have eaten for the first time on the ta ranch after we see them advertise on facebook for holiday lamps and Christmas buffet. their flyer obviously mentions the lights of the celebration and yes, they had Christmas lights on, but only the bases. there were some icles outside of the dining area and a few streaks along the fence tops. I guess I was expecting a little more because of their advertising. the inside of the escap is very sweet and probably the best part of the entire experience. it actually looked like something they would see in a brand movie! what I love. After sitting, we were told that they were no longer a buffet, but they would bring us "endless teller" out of the kitchen. Okay, great, first round came fast. aromen were good, but the portions were quite small and eating was cold. not only did we get only 4-5 bites of the main rib, it was also 50% fat. we informed our server of the cold food that was very apologetic and assured us that our next teller would be “Piping hot”. Our 2nd round of the teller took to get out. almost 30 minutes. at this time we were honestly ready to go. the 2nd round of the prime rib was definitely better, but eating was honestly still lukewarm, at best. overall we were all very disappointed and betrayed with our experience. not only did we drive an hour to come here (no big thing, it is wyoming) but our bill was $174 (plus tip, so over $200 total) for 2 adults and 3 children. they were not busy when we arrived, maybe 35% of the tables were filled (about 25 people including our party of 5.) the evening meal was offered by 5-9 and we arrived at 5:30. during our visit, I would suspect that it reached 50-60% capacity (maybe 35-40 people max) and about 3-4 server, so it did not seem as if it had been overwhelmed. I am all for supporting small/local business. I wanted to love this place, but we wouldn't return.
The staff was very friendly, but harried and not able to do anything other than take orders and run them to the tables. The ambiance was adequate for a cookhouse, but the folding chairs at some tables was off putting. The entrees were very good my steak was excellent but the vegetables as a side were overcooked and largely inedible. I have celiac and was very pleasantly surprised by the many gluten free choices, not to mention that the staff was keenly aware of food allergies not something you typically run into in the wilds of Wyoming. Will we come back yes we will give it another shot next season.
We had the Parmesan rosemary fries, steak, burgers, mac&cheese with brisket. They were all very good. We plan on going back. I really like the quieter atmosphere and the fact the tables are not close together.
