The chef was so nice and engaging when we were there last, we were the last to leave after lunch and he was so gracious to talk to. I have tried steak at a few places in the last several years but am always dissapointed at the toughness, but I have had a perfect steak here everytime we have come. LOVE this place!
Nice place friendly staff tho they limit toast to one slice and you must ask for any condiments you might need as they are not already at the table. Will we go back yes we will.
Small breakfast menu but huge tasty chicken fries steak plate. I mean, they have breakfast. Maybe not Belgium waffles or grits. But the main staples
We stopped in for a late breakfast on Sunday. My Brother recommended we try it out, and because our original choice; the Black Bear Diner had a 35 minute wait and long line out the door. My Brother also said he had liked it a year ago....a very long time in restaurant terms. We arrived at the wait to be seated sign and was approached after 10 minutes of nothing and a mostly quiet, empty, dark, dreary restaurant. Finally, a lady appears and abruptly says seating is closed! you will have to wait 20 minutes! and rushed away. No WELCOME HELLO, THANKS FOR COMING, PLEASE.... OR ANYTHING. F* off more or less. (see Rude in dictionary; wikipedia. So we had to wait 20 minutes to get seated at the Dam Diner, the new normal at most places these days apparently. We were not feeling good about what else was on the horizon. A young girl finally directed us to our table handed us menus and took our drink orders. My wife, perused the incredibly small menu choices and opted for a pattymelt and fries, I chose the basic breakfast; coffee, eggs over easy, bacon, hashbrowns. We waited another 30 minutes for the food to arrive and the drink refills. No condiments on the table except sugar and creamer. Had to ask for ketchup, Tabasco, ranch etc., none were offered to us. The Ranch tasted like generic bottled ****. I don 't understand why can 't you make it in house? Lazy? Takes 2 minutes, I do at home for God sakes, because it tastes better! Easy peasy. After the coffee was empty and my Wife 's ice water, the food arrives. Presentation is back home style, no pretty plating or garnish. (Plopped on the plate style The eggs were extremely runny and room temperature, the bread came with no butter, about 2 tablespoons of hash browns and two little bacon swirls (curled up lol. The flavor was okay, nothing special or noteworthy. My Wife 's pattymelt consisted of a well done and very dry, previously frozen burger patty that also had raw PURPLE onion instead of caramelized (that 's the whole point of a pattymelt right? . Purple onions are not meant or supposed to be caramelized. A sourdough Jack would have destroyed this thing in comparison. Her fries were basic frozen shoestring. After we finished, the waitress thanked us for our patience. We tipped beyond the service we received. Look, I 've worked in restaurants and understand the difficulty in keeping competent staff and still stay afloat. But, if you are simply offering something akin to McDonald 's on a good day, you should consider another type of business venture. Customers will not return and pay a premium without some sort of consistency and quality. Hope things improve for you. The Dam Diner is not a diner. It 's a dark room with tables and chairs and obviously no passion.
Excellent service. Quality of food was perfect. Highly recommend their Monte Cristo sandwich with homemade potatoes. Great place!!
