I wasn't sure what to get and the staff were very helpful in making recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious. Very polite and courteous staff.
One lovely Sunday Arvo we had a hankering for a Thai some one mentioned "how about big mummas?" I replied " that's would be so fetch" so of we trotted to big mummas and we was not disappointed.. the spring rolls were exquisite and left my mouth gagging for more.. meowwwThe main was expelliamas I windardium leviosared it into my mouth.. and just as terminator once said "ILL BE BACK" Signing out xoxo bundy baes..
My wife and I were a little dubious to enter, there was a curtain covering the window look like a massage parlour…We opened the door we were announced by ringing of a brass bell, approached the counter and a young lady came out to serve us. As we love seafood we asked if the seafood was Australian and was told “YES” it is. We ordered a Pad Thai with PRAWNS, mix Seafood green curry, Garlic prawns, a “special” combination fry rice with prawns and a Large Jasmine rice (that was very small) and in short conversation we asked about how long the takeaway shop operated and was told that the chef owned Thai Rice Restaurant. We had eaten there on two previous occasions - so our expectations were high. The results of our takeaway: Poor take away with the Pad Thai overcooked, burnt flavour and dry, the prawns were NOT Australian, they were small cheap import prawns, the mixed Seafood curry was ok, but seafood was poor & not much flavour as we liked, but was edible, The fried rice was a little oily, and sorry to say the the Jasmine rice was obviously cooked the day before as it was very dry, lucky we had the gravy from the curry to soften it up.Will we go back? No - Not until they cook fresh and not to use up left over rice. People know that you need to put more meats into a combination fried rice costing almost $16.00 AND not tell people that you use AUSTRALIAN SEAFOOD when it plainly is NOT! People do know the difference! Food shortcuts taken and it shows. Expensive takeaway for high prices.Restaurant? No; maybe takeaway at best, no toilet / table service look like the cheap copy of another place without same favourable results.
Run by the same chef who used to cook at Thai Rice this restaurant is located in West Bundaberg. There are reasonably priced lunch specials with a large choice of dishes for $10 each.I had the green chicken curry which I used to enjoy at Thai rice but found it quite bland this time - lacking the usual flavour. The rice serving was too small for the curry and I usually end up ordering more.My husband had the stir fry chicken and cashew nut which was too sweet for our tastes and not very flavoursome this time.Won't order the same dishes again but may go back and try some others as have had some nice food cooked by this chef.
