Stopped in for a quick breakfast. I ordered the eggs and bacon platter with hash browns. Everything was cooked to perfection.... exactly what I would expect of a family in a small town just off the main road. I would definitely stop here again.

A great place to enjoy a nice hot meal anytime . Always good choices on the buffet . I wish I could eat my every meal here . Wanda O Mayton

We stayed at the Comfort Inn at Burkeville, VA. There are no other restaurants close by so we walked over to the Hillside. It is traditional southern style diner place-a buffet, breakfast all day, bbq, etc. I ordered french toast for dinner, how can I not? It was tasty with a hint of cinnamon and a sprinkling of powdered sugar. The prices are cheap and the owner was entertaining. A very nice man who seems to really enjoy his job. Also, if you are from out of state, Virginia has no state ban on smoking and this place allows smoking. We ordered take-out thankfully. On the up side-the hotel is completely smoke-free.

This place is awful!!!!! I got food poisoning. After reading the reviews I decided to try out this place. The reviews for 2018 are totally wrong. The place has old dirty floors and seats. Their were too many flies and the AC barely worked. The cook area is right next to the buffet and it also is unclean. Despite the interior appearance I still decided to try the food. I tried the buffet and the chicken had feathers and hair on it. I then decided to order the breakfast instead and it taste like it was all cooked in the same grease including the eggs. I was sick for two days because of this food and place. I will never go here again. If this review would post without a star it would have gotten it. How does the health inspector continue to allow this place to be open?
