I've been coming a long time and it's never getting old. you will see the terrace/hoof, which is a small jewel that they have for music. the woodwork is great and has the early 1900s feeling, it. also in the beautiful months outdoors and I have hardly waited for a table over the years. try the tables through the windows for two when they can!
We popped in for a night of live music. We did not know that the band was raising money for an 11 year old cancer patient. It was also the 1963 class reunion taking place. We had a fun night and enjoyed the obviously close knit community. The brussel sprouts were phenomenal (maple glazed), but the corn flat bread was not cooked well. Drinks were good. Would recommend if you want to feel like you're not on vacation and grab a sense of real vibe.
Enjoyed a very nice brunch with delicious eggs benedict and drinks. Thought we should come back and try dinner, that was a mistake. Our party had two orders of poutine for an appetizer and it was ridiculously salty. You don 't need to salt the fries when you 're adding gravy and cheese curds. Short rib mac and cheese had about a tablespoons worth of meat and had no flavor. Cheese sauce was unbelievably thin and more like milk. The other pasta dish was simultaneously dry and completely drenched in oil. That being said service was good both times. Enjoyable brunch but skip lunch/dinner.
Pretty disappointing overall. Waited around 45 minutes for food to arrive. After asking a couple of times when to expect the food, the waitress (who was doing the best she could) eventually said the delay was because the kitchen was too busy. Taking on more covers you can handle is a really poor experience for customers. The food itself was pretty good but adults meals came out before the kids food (every parents’ restaurant nightmare), kids chicken burger was rubbery and fries way too salty for children. Wouldn’t recommend unless you’ve got a lot of time on your hands and don’t have hungry kids to feed.
A fork to use for scale. This is the short rib poutine which cost $17. Seven. Teen. Dollars. As another comment writes, there is about a tablespoon of short rib. The plate is not only extremely small itself but it has to be only about $2 worth of ingredients, AND it was extremely salty. Will be speaking to staff giving my criticism. I have never done this before. This has to be the least amount of food I have ever gotten for this amount of money.
