The service is warm and personal, the restaurant can be very busy based on the time of the day....Great location only at the entrance of the Metrotown Mall. If you are a frequent guest, you will receive additional discounts with their frequent diner program. I'm back!
Our meal consisted of a variety of dim sum classics, a braised Halibut Hotpot, golden Yolk Custard Lava rolls, Mango pudding, and the unforgettable deep-fried crab claws. The Jumbo Har Gow and Steamed Shrimp Scallop Dumplings were of good quality, though the rice noodle on the Steamed Prawn Rice Rolls was a bit thick for my liking. The sticky rice stole the show for me, with a perfect balance of pork, shrimp, and rice. The braised Halibut Hotpot was a standout, perfectly cooked and complemented by a delicious Satay sauce. Desserts were sweet and enjoyable, especially the mango pudding shaped like a koi fish. Overall, I would rate the food quality at 4/5, service at 3/5, and value at 4/5. While Fortune House may not be the absolute best in town, it certainly ranks among the top choices for dim sum and Asian cuisine. I recommend giving it a try if you're in the area.
Average food quality, excellent service, steep prices. The ambience was good, but it looked a little dated.
BBQ Pork buns with crispy top shell like pineapple beer top. Enjoy mango pudding in the form of fish. Eggcake was good. Felt rice rolls had too many shrimps and could also contain green onions. Beef balls were good
Whenever we go to a restaurant all we need to do to judge the place is by how much and quickly the kids eat. The food portions in this place are big but the quality of cooking could do with some work. The fried rice...and veg were ok but the soups .... how difficult is it to make good soup?
