The majority of the menu has been carried over.<br/ <br/ The prices are very fair, and yes, you may get a grumpy person at the counter from time to time. But with value like this, your gonna draw different walks of life and unfortunately the rude cheapskate customers with no manners. I don't blame the merchant, I've seen some pretty rude customers demanding ridiculous things.<br/ <br/ Highly recommend the siu long baos. Very flavourful broth, melt in your mouth delights. The skin was thin. Be careful, you can burn yourself, if your not a experienced soup dumping eater.<br/ <br/ I would recommend this place to anyone.<br/
A lot of reviews seem to grumble a bit about the service here. I think maybe one should imagine what it would be like to be so busy all day everyday. The young woman who took my order anticipated my questions (they were painfully obvious) and then kept track of me as I waited for my order (some guy lost and out of place in a bustling Asian food court), so thank you. This is the first place that I had ever tried Xi Long Boa (a long time ago) and after having them a few other places and getting an idea of what they should be, these are still very good. Tasty broth (which I still get all over myself), flavorful little meatball and decent thin wrapping. The green onion pancake that I also tried was a little less exciting, maybe a little thiner than I expected but still tasty. Two women working hard at the front counter making dumplings, leave no doubt that you are getting a hand crafted product. And a smoking deal at less than $10 for 5 dumplings and the pancake!
Have heard great reviews of this place and decided to check it out for myself.<br/ <br/ The girl at the till wasn't uber friendly but when I asked for a noodle recommendation she did suggest a great tasting one. I did not want spicy that day so the chicken and vegetable noodle soup was a great suggestion. <br/ <br/ The Xiao Long bao (steamed juicy buns) came with 5 and seemed larger compared to what I am used to. By the time I brought it to my table (after waiting for one) the buns seemed to have deflated into flat buns. They still had great juice in them with good flavours but felt the skin was a little dry and got a little hard to the point it stuck onto the side of the bamboo tier. <br/ <br/ Overall great flavours and will be back to try other dishes.
One of my favourite spots for Shanghai Dumplings in Burnaby. The xiao long baos are delicious and consistently good! I really love the dumplings. They're relatively bigger dumplings compared to other places, but are just big enough to fit perfectly into my mouth. When that broth explodes on the first chew.. mini foodgasm!
I bought Xiao long bao (5 pieces) for a late lunch. The Xiao long bao was packed in a foam plastic box. Obviously the presentation was not very nice because I ordered takeout. However it tasted ok or above average. The soup inside the Xiao long bao had a bigger portion. It was great that the skin of the Xiao long bao was thin (not too thick). The meat inside was very soft that it melted in my mouth immediately. <br/ <br/ The service was okay. A customer in front of me had complained that her order took quite long that she almost wanted to cancel the order. This food stall was quite busy and popular. I ordered the Xiao long bao with a number. The server told me that it would take about 10 mins., so I walked away and shopped around the mall and then walked back to the stall to pick up my food.
