Sushi Uomo - Burnaby

If the food hadn't been so tasty maybe I would have had pictures to post. Between the delicious cuisine, and the amazing service of our waiter, this was hands down one of the best sushi experiences I've had in a long time.Definitely try the blue fin special!

Super expensive!The food is good, the quality is definitely there. For the price, I would expect bigger portions.This is a great local restaurant to come have sushi for sure, although the food here is great, it's difficult to visit often due to their price. It is a small restaurant; I would assume on weekends it could get a bit busy during peak hours.The service is good, you get half a bowl of miso soup when you first come into the restaurant. It’s a bit odd in the beginning though because on the menu it says miso soup has a price tag on it, so you may worry you will get charged, but you won’t.There is only one server really working there, I believe she's potentially the owner. Expect service to take time, she works hard and fast, but when the restaurant is busy, there aren't enough people going around to serve tables.The atmosphere and the layout of the restaurant are nice, it’s unique here. The restaurant is clean along with their utensils as well. The tables have dividers on them so that will provide some additional privacy and also for those who are concerned about covid.

Pick up order for dinner.I like their various menu like surf clam, mackerel, squid, and hirame( it was sold out tho) not only Salmon and Tuna based sushi like most other Japanese restaurants have.It didn't upset my stomach, but the moment I opened the container, they smelled fishy.Taste of sushi was good.Only disappointed in Chopped scallop nigiri. They did not mention at online menu it was actually scallop with masago and mayo.No taste of scallop!!

Sushi Uomo has always been a personal favorite for sushi. The fish is always fresh, they maintian reasonably fast service, and quality has not changed in the 5+ years I've been going. The price is also very reasonable. If you're feeling adventurous, try the Crazy Bacon Roll. I've never had anything like it and would highly recommend this crazy combo of bacon wrapped California roll goodness topped with spring greens and scallops.
