We went on a weekday, so it was blissfully quiet and low-key. The grounds were fun to explore with plenty of shaded spots to enjoy a simple, but tasty cheese plate alongside a glass or two of wine. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly-ish. He mostly left us alone, which was fine by us but may not suit everyone. We had a leisurely chat, snack, and bevvy before taking a wander around the property and heading out. Definitely a stop worth considering if you're in the vicinity.
There’s a nice indoor space and patio. Unfortunately, the wine just wasn’t for us and we found the staff we interacted with to be a bit standoffish and a little rude at points. Overall it was ok but we wouldn’t go back having had better experiences elsewhere nearby
We never travel to central Texas without stopping by to see the wonderful crew at Spicewood Vineyards and pick up a few of our favorite bottles of wine. Paul, Cameron and Allie are just the best people and have always made us feel welcome since we started coming here a few years back. Whenever anyone asks us our favorite Fredericksburg winery we tell them to drive up to Spicewood for the best experience—no name tags, no stoppers on the wine bottles, no pushy sales, and they’re dog friendly. All that said, the wines are award winning and exceptional. You won’t regret a stop that might be a little out of the way.
This is our second time to go to Spicewood vineyards and I have to say it's even more beautiful than it was the first time. The man that did help us with our wine choice was super nice and even let us try a few before we made our decision on which bottle we wanted to buy and share at their beautiful winery.
Fantastic property if you like Central Texas charm and a patio with a breeze (during the 1st week of June at least). Incredibly relaxing late afternoon with a pretty decent Sangiovese rosé (the Viognier was even better, but the Mrs likes her rosés).Quiet and off the beaten path kind of place. Haven't checked out the reds yet, but if the wine is even drinkable, then come for the scenery
