The coffee is great, and I appreciate that they have half and half on the table along with my favorite sweetener—the yellow packet—so I'm already a fan. I enjoyed the omelet, hash browns, a giant cinnamon roll the size of a plate, pork sausage links, and fresh fruit; everything was delicious. The service was outstanding as well. There’s plenty of seating, and I had no wait on a weekday at 10 AM. It has a classic diner vibe.
Hanging Five came highly recommended by the front desk clerk at the Comfort Inn, and we were more than happy to reward her with a slice of German Chocolate Cake for her excellent suggestion! I ordered the halibut dinner, while my husband chose the tuna melt. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and beautifully presented. Our waiter, Taylor, was friendly and attentive from the moment we sat down until he brought us our desserts to go. We were impressed to see that the restaurant was bustling with locals during dinner, with a steady stream of customers being seated and only a brief wait time. The entire staff was always on the move! We wholeheartedly recommend giving Hanging Five a try.
Once we were seated, it did take a while for us to be served, which became a bit frustrating over time. I ordered breakfast while my companion, Adrienne, chose the pot roast. The menu promises you can order anything at any time of day, but it's worth noting that sides are not included; for example, you can't pair breakfast with dinner sides or vice versa. My breakfast presentation was impressive. Everything was cooked exactly as I requested. However, the hash browns had an unusual flavor—I'm not sure what oil they were cooked in, but it was unexpected yet not unpleasant. The eggs were cooked just over medium, which was standard. The jalapeño sausage was decent; a bit chewy, but overall quite tasty. Unfortunately, the pancakes were disappointing. They looked great, but the batter had a slightly bitter taste that I didn’t enjoy. Adrienne's take on the pot roast was that it was very homespun and quite edible. She rated it a B-, noting that while it was well-prepared with good meat and a nice smoked flavor, it didn’t quite match her specific taste. However, she believes that those who enjoy a smoky flavor would be quite pleased. The portion sizes were generous, contributing to a laid-back, down-home atmosphere. This was our experience on a busy evening, so perhaps it wasn’t the best decision to order breakfast. The staff was excellent, especially after the initial slow service. I’d like to give 3.5 stars for the experience, but since I can't, I'll rate it a solid 4 stars.
The food was AMAZING!! Such good burgers and sandwiches. Jason B and the other servers were super helpful and friendly. Right off the freeway and easy to get to. Cute rustic feel. We'll be back next time we're in town.
Old-fashioned restaurant. Complete with a bar like the old single guys would sit at when you were younger. They're quick and the food is good.
