It was a great experience. Salad is waiting for you at the table. The servers were very helpful and attentive. The food was amazing. Steak was cooked for perfection. You will also get a dish of spaghetti, frits and some ravioli with your meal. Then a small bowl of ice at the end. Very retro feeling with a fantastic atmosphere and mood. In any case, this restaurant would recommend if you are in the area.
Went in on a Thursday evening, expecting a clown show based on some of the reviews others have posted. This place was not disappointed. Maybe. I've been working in Montana for too long, but I'm from a food town, big city. I'm familiar with the food industry. I am a demanding and extremely critical patron who can often laugh at what is considered a decent restaurant in rural areas. I didn't find anything wrong with this facility. It was clean, well decorated and stylish. The music selection was great. Steaks and seafood well prepared, according to the taste of my Montana brown counterparts. Limited menu? I agree that it could benefit less from pommes and more baked potatoes, as others have mentioned. More bread and less crackers, yes. But I didn't miss that? this place feels great because it is unique, quirky, and properly managed by my view. Zero problems with the cheerful and intelligent server staff that coordinated all their efforts to ensure that we were visited during the meal. The menu was slightly confusing with the ?accompaniments? but there wasn't a moment when we didn't put something hot and tasty in our food holes. The dining room was pleasant and quiet, so that table discussions that the waiter skillfully avoids interruption. Relaxing and satisfying after a long, stressful day. Sure, the restroom garbage was hard to reach with your used paper towel, but I really dig here deep. An enjoyable experience and a good value also in the current economy. There is a reason why the game is full every evening, and I would consider Lydia as a top destination in Butte for any number of special occasions.
A classic dinner club experience that my family has been for years. Dinner comes with salad (the Bleu cheese dressing is my favorite of all time), salami, cheese, sweet potato salad, some vegetables, anchovies (on request), frits, spaghetti and ravioli, your entree, and ice cream for dessert. Classical dinner steak is delicate and in a season I can only describe as Lydia's. In my opinion, very tasty, and unfortunately for the dog, I never take a doggy bag home. Add some shrimp for the surfing and lawn experience, or, honestly, the roasted chicken is pretty good. Not sure if they still do it like that, but back to the day, we have the fried chicken dinner to go, bring your own bowl for spaghetti and Rows, and you would pick it up at the back door. If we were going to have kids, they would give us small sugar wafer cookies while we wait. Waaaaay better than Safeway chicken too.
For those that aren't familiar with old school supper clubs, this is something to experience. First time in my life where spaghetti and ravioli was an automatic side served family style. There gets to be so much food! The decor is wood paneling with a lot of stained glass hangings, an over all dark feel... very supper club ey. It's not the everyday restaurant experience, so if you want to try something a little different, this might be it. Food was pretty good. Not a great place to choose for those that don't eat meat. Staff was nice, and they like reservations.
